by Avery Color Studios - This rare, out of print book tells the story of the raising of the schooner Alvin Clark from Green Bay in 1969 and was written shortly after the vessel was recovered. The Clark was a classic Great Lakes schooner lost in 1864. She was one of the oldest vessels in the world and initially attracted a lot of attention. Unfortunately, she could not be adequately preserved and she continued to deteriorate. Due to poor condition and general lack of public interest, she was bulldozed in the late 1980s to clear the lot she occupied. She served as a valuable lesson that Great Lakes wrecks should be left on the bottom. Used copies of this book occasionally pop up on the internet. The last time I looked a few were still in circulation.
